Pendant - silver, steel, ruby bearings

I have found that carefully dismantling old watches is a very calming procedure that holds you in a peaceful, trance-like state. I received a handful of old watches from my grandfather a while ago, and upon opening one of them I found utter, functional beauty. The small red bits you see are ruby bearings, used in fancy watches for their distinct oily smoothness.

Letting form follow function I encased two of these whatevers in silver.

This is a very neat piece. I like it a lot. The shape, design and symmetry are very appealing. :)

Now just imagine the amount of time that went into making all of those little pieces fit together and actually work to tell time. It's almost mind-boggling.

Exactly - there were countless little gears and whatnot that fit perfectly into the grooves and holes of the watch. I'm happy that I'm not required such precision as a goldsmith - I just need to make beautiful things.

any chance you got another one you want to sell?
:icondeaddamien:
Both of these are for sale, actually.

For how much? And where are you located?
